Hahn argues the UN has no place regulating telecom in US News blog
Senior Policy Scholar Robert Hahn and co-author Peter Passel published “The United Nations Should Not Regulate the Internet” on October 2nd in US News and World Report. The World Conference for International Telecommunications will be hosted in Dubai this December and will consider changes to international telecommunications regulation, including how countries should set cross-border internet rates. Hahn and Passel’s argue that UN telecom regulation would likely adversely affect telecom, and that national regulators can take a more nuanced approach to their individual countries’ telecom needs.
