In “Panelists Say Service Exports a Bright Spot Amid Trade Deficit but Impediments Remain,” Casey Wooten discussed some of Brad Jensen’s remarks at our October 24th Georgetown on the Hill event.  The piece appeared in the subscription-only news service, Bloomberg BNA Law Reports.  At the event Jensen argued for the need to invest more in the services industry, and specifically in trade in services.  Jensen is quoted as saying:

But as the United States inks trade agreements to import manufactured goods, obstacles remain for U.S. services firms to do business in developing nations, said J. Bradford Jensen, a panelist and economics professor at Georgetown.  “We’ve negotiated the impediments in manufacturing where these emerging countries have the advantage, yet they maintain very high barriers to service trade,” he said.
