Jeffrey T. Macher

Dr. Macher is an Associate Professor of Strategy and Economics in the McDonough School of Business at Georgetown University. He teaches MBA, executive MBA, and executive education courses in microeconomics; competitive strategy; and the management of technology and innovation.

Professor Macher received his undergraduate degree in computer engineering from the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan; his MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College; and his Ph.D. from the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. Prior to Georgetown University,

Professor Macher worked for Braxton Associates (a strategy consulting firm now part of Deloitte Consulting), IBM and Motorola. His research interests include industry structure; competitive strategy; and the organization and economics of innovation. His research focuses mainly on how firm organization affects technological and innovative performance in a variety of high technology industries, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals and semiconductors.

His research has been published in Advances in Strategic Management, California Management Review, Journal of Product Innovation Management, Organization Science, Management Science and Strategic Management Journal, among others.

Professor Macher is a member of the Academy of Management (AOM) and the Strategic Management Society (SMS). He is on the editorial board of International Journal of Strategic Change Management, and is a reviewer for several academic and managerial journals.
