Larry Downes finds the latest FCC decision to create “new, mandatory technical standard[s] that will open up rapidly-disappearing set-top boxes to even more third party providers” deeply flawed. Downes argues the new regulations won’t stand up to scrutiny and “this latest effort to micromanage a technically dynamic industry is certain to cost millions, suffer years of delay, and ultimately offer no benefit whatsoever to consumers.”
