Executive Director John W. Mayo and Senior Policy Fellow Scott Wallsten, along with Gregory Rosston of Stanford University, have released an Economic Policy Vignette: “From a Silk Purse to a Sow’s Ear? Implementing the Broadband, Equity, Access and Deployment Act”.

“Universal broadband” has been an oft-repeated policy goal for well over a decade. This year, the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act was passed, which dedicates $42.25 billion to this cause. In this Economic Policy Vignette, John Mayo, Greg Rosston and Scott Wallsten point out that absent smart implementation, universal broadband may continue to be elusive. They discuss two key dimensions in which the current design for implementation can, and should, be improved.
