On September 19, 2024, Hall Wang, MBA/MPP ’19, led a Lunch & Learn session at the McDonough School of Business, where he discussed the advantages of the MBA Non-Market Strategy (NMS) Certificate in today’s global business landscape. He emphasized that the NMS Certificate acts as a “radar” for professionals, enabling them to navigate regulatory and policy challenges to better assess business strategies before committing time and resources.
Key discussion points included the value of understanding regulatory standards from a global perspective, highlighting contemporary business examples, including in the dynamic AI space. Wang highlighted how the NMS Certificate equips students with essential skills to ask the right questions, build credibility, and find practical solutions to complex policy issues with business implications.
Using a vivid analogy, Wang likened the NMS Certificate to an “off-road package” for a vehicle—an extra capability and value-add that sets graduates apart in business and public policy fields. Beyond its business applications, the NMS program also prepares students for roles in government or policy, by helping them engage with key debates and arguments on pressing real-world issues.
