CBPP Hosts International Economics Seminar Series: Missing Tariffs with Feodora Teti, Princeton
Posted in News | Tagged News - Digital Economy
At a recent International Economics seminar hosted by the Georgetown Center for Business and Public Policy, Feodora Teti, a Postdoctoral Fellow at Princeton University, presented her recent research on improving tariff data accuracy. Teti discussed measurement errors in existing datasets, including incomplete reporting and a selection bias particularly salient in the case of developing countries.
Her paper proposes a new database that addresses these inconsistencies. The approach involves filling in missing data from multiple sources and developing an algorithm to correct the errors, which was validated using Japanese data. The refined dataset promises to significantly enhance the accuracy of research, offering more reliable insights for policymakers and business leaders. This enhanced data quality is expected to lead to better-informed trade policies and economic decisions.
