Mayo and Press Article on “Stealth Consolidation” Published in IJIO

The International Journal of Industrial Organization has now published online research by Professor John Mayo and former Post-Doctoral Fellow Robert Press on “stealth consolidation.” 

In the article, Executive Director John Mayo and Postdoctoral Fellow Robert Press examine the question of whether a legislatively-mandated increase in the reporting thresholds for proposed mergers in 2000 led firms to strategically undertake mergers that now lie below the threshold, with the aim of avoiding regulatory scrutiny.

The article will appear in the July 2025 print issue of the journal.
