CBPP Senior Policy Scholar Catherine Tinsley is Faculty Director of the Georgetown University Women’s Leadership Institute, also housed at the McDonough School of Business. On October 23rd and 24th, in partnership with the Carnegie Mellon University Leadership and Negotiation Academy for Women, Tinsley hosted an exclusive, ground-breaking workshop entitled, “Developing New Insights for Gender Equity in Organizations.”

Leading academics and influential executives gathered at Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business for a two-day workshop. Utilizing “data blitz,” round table, and report out methods to review the barriers to realizing gender equity in the workplace, participants discussed and designed research programs to better identify how to break down these barriers and “leaks” in the system. Exercises and intervention methods addressed environmental and cultural factors at play.

The conference also provided access to the most recent research on gender dynamics and its implications for diversity initiatives and potential collaborators for long term intervention strategies. The dialog included both men and women and delved deeply into the leadership development of high potential women leaders.
